She stated that “this EP is more about being OK with the fact that I have a lot of anxiety, and that I don’t want to go to parties.” Twitter. On April 3, 2020, Sloan released single “I’ll Wait” produced by Kygo for his album Golden Hour. This track has over 62 Million Streams on Spotify. She currently has over 10.2 Million Monthly Listeners on Spotify alone, which is impressive.

Sasha Sloan is back with her highly anticipated single, “Lie,” off of her first full length album, Only Child, due out this fall. Right off the bat, you can tell that this single is more upbeat than most of her previous work. This actually works with this song. Her vocals pair well with this type of song. Considering she made the transition from songwriter to singer, it is pretty much a given that the lyrics would be the real breakout here.

“Don’t sleep on the couch again, even though you took it for the weekend, Kiss me like you wanna stay, even though you’re thinking about leaving.”

These lyrics pretty much set the mood for the entire song. It is all about seeking comfort in denial. “Don’t be honest, promise me that you want this.” This song, even with it being upbeat, is on brand with Sasha Sloan and her iconic, sadgirlsloan persona.

I had the chance to see Sasha Sloan perform with Lauren Aquilina in Nashville last year. She opened her set, with “Alright, who’s ready to get sad,” followed by loud cheers. I didn’t really know how much I related to her music, until after that show. She has a way of writing lyrics that listeners will relate to. She is a brilliant vocalist/lyricist and a musical genius.
